Presentation of the CD ‘Fearless’, by trumpeter Manuel Blanco

Wednesday, September 27, at 20.00h – LA QUINTA DE MAHLER

The Spanish National Orchestra, under the direction of Josep Pons, and Decca present their new album Fearless, whose release is the debut solo album of Manuel Blanco, trumpet soloist of the orchestra.

Manuel Blanco will talk to journalist Jesús Ruiz Mantilla and offer a musical tip.

On 29 and 30 September and 1 October, Manuel Blanco will perform as soloist (along with pianist Bertrand Chamayou) Concerto No. 1 for piano and trumpet in C minor, op. 35, by Dmitri Shostakovich, conducted by Semyon Bychkov.

Free admission until full capacity.
At the end, a wine will be served.

Fearless offers a wide and colorful tour through some of the most complex and representative works of the trumpet repertoire, including works by Zimmermann, Haydn, L. Mozart, Tomasi and Nathan. Since the performance of Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s Concerto for trumpet and orchestra, one of the key works on the album, in 2011 awarded Blanco the first prize in the prestigious ARD International Competition in Munich, Manuel combines his solo career with his solo trumpet position in the National Orchestra.
